The Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) oversees diploma courses in engineering, commonly referred to as polytechnic courses, across Maharashtra. These programs are designed to provide practical skills and technical knowledge, preparing students for various engineering fields.

Duration:

The diploma courses typically span three years, divided into six semesters.

Why Study Polytechnic?

Polytechnic courses focus on developing skills and practical experience rather than theoretical knowledge. Upon completion, students receive a diploma that typically qualifies them to apply for jobs in their desired field. A polytechnic course may also provide students with an entry point for their education after completing 10th and 12th

Further Education:

Diploma holders can pursue higher education, such as a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), typically entering directly into the second year of these degree programs. This pathway allows for the completion of an engineering degree in an additional three years.

Eligibility:

Candidates who have completed the 10th standard (SSC) are eligible for first-year admissions. Those who have completed HSC Science, HSC (Science with Vocational/Technical subjects), or a 10+2 years ITI with a center of excellence course may be eligible for direct admission into the second year, subject to MSBTE guidelines.

Admission Process

Admission Process: Admissions are conducted through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP), which is merit-based, considering marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
Direct Second-Year Admissions: For candidates seeking direct admission into the second year, 20% of the sanctioned intake is available as over and above the sanctioned intake in all institutes across the state. Eligibility for specific branches is determined based on the candidate’s prior qualifications, such as HSC Science with Vocational subjects or relevant ITI courses.
